Transforming the Investment Management Industry
Our approach is inclusive: education, mentoring, internships, and a supportive community.
OUR VISION:
Have 30% of the world’s investable capital to be managed by women and gender nonbinary individuals by 2030.
Our Story
Seema R. Hingorani founded Girls Who Invest (GWI) in 2015 as a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the number of women in portfolio management and executive leadership in the investment management industry.
Why We Need Girls Who Invest The investment management industry has been challenged by a lack of diversity on investment teams. For decades now, roles have been filled from one small corner of the talent pool. Today the industry is missing out on women's and gender nonbinary people’s intelligence, creativity, and values when it comes to managing money.
Our strategy is simple and practical. Our strategy is simple and practical. Investment firms say they do not see enough resumés from women and gender nonbinary people, so we are creating a pipeline of talented and motivated young people who are prepared to succeed in the industry through intensive educational programs, a meaningful paid internship, and a robust ongoing community.
More than 2,500 students from U.S. college and universities have participated in our Summer Intensive Program (SIP) and Online Intensive Program (OIP) since 2016.
